Full Description

A man from Southport has been sentenced to 14 years in prison for a series of child sex offences committed against a 14-year-old girl. Marcin Laskowski, aged 39 and of no fixed address, was convicted following a trial at Liverpool Crown Court.

The offences occurred in January 2025, when Laskowski encountered the vulnerable girl by chance in Southport town centre. He offered her a place to stay at his flat, where she believed she would be safe. However, once inside, Laskowski sexually assaulted and raped her despite her repeated pleas to stop, leaving her scared and frightened.

Laskowski was found guilty of two counts of rape, assault by penetration, and sexual activity with a girl aged 13-15. The trial took place in July 2025, leading to his sentencing on 7 October 2025. In addition to the 14-year custodial sentence, he received six years on extended licence, an indefinite restraining order against the victim, an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order, and must sign the Sex Offender Register for life.

Detective Inspector Tony Meakins of the Merseyside Police Child & Criminal Sexual Exploitation Team commented on the case: 'Laskowski preyed on a vulnerable child he had met by chance in Southport town centre and offered her a place to stay, where she thought she would be safe and trusted him. However once inside the flat he sexually assaulted and raped her despite her pleas to stop. She was left scared and frightened of what would happen to her.' He praised the victim's courage, stating: 'The victim and her family have showed immense courage and bravery throughout the investigation to reach this conviction.'

Meakins further emphasised the impact of the sentence: 'Today’s custodial sentence has removed him from the streets to prevent further harm to anyone else. I hope Laskowski spends this time in prison to reflect on his abhorrent behaviour and accepts that it is wrong.' The case was investigated by Merseyside Police, highlighting their commitment to tackling child sexual exploitation.
