Offence Summary

Arsenad Guraj was jailed for five years after being found guilty of sexually abusing a teenage girl over a four-year period.

Full Description

Arsenad Guraj, 37, of Lincoln Road, Peterborough, was sentenced to five years in prison at Huntingdon Law Courts on 12 May 2024 after being convicted of sexually abusing a teenage girl.

The court heard that Guraj began touching the girl inappropriately in March 2019, with the abuse continuing for the next four years. The victim only realised she had been sexually assaulted after seeing posters and attending assemblies at school, at which point she disclosed the abuse to family members.

Guraj was arrested in April 2024. He denied the allegations but was found guilty of two counts of assaulting a girl under 13 by touching and engaging in non-penetrative sexual activity with a girl aged 13 to 15.

In addition to the custodial sentence, Guraj was placed on the Sex Offenders Register for life, handed a 12-year restraining order and a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order.

The victim stated in her personal statement that Guraj's offending had led to a loss of friends, isolation, self-harm, and had ruined her school life and education. Detective Sergeant Lauren Kirkup of Cambridgeshire Constabulary praised the victim's bravery in coming forward and supporting the prosecution.
