Offence Summary

Sexually motivated Diane Wade targeted five boys aged 7 to 17, committing multiple sexual assaults and activities with children under the guise of horseplay between 2010 and 2018.

Full Description

Diane Wade, 45, of New Burlington Road in Bridlington, was convicted after a trial of three offences of sexual activity with a boy under 16, one of sexually assaulting a boy under 13, and three of sexually assaulting a male, spanning December 2010 to December 2018. Described in court as 'sexually motivated' and 'obsessed' with young boys' private parts, Wade masqueraded her actions as innocent horseplay while targeting five victims aged between seven and 17. She was jailed for five years and given a 10-year sexual harm prevention order, with indefinite registration as a sex offender.

The jury at Hull Crown Court unanimously convicted Wade on several counts, with the judge noting her predatory pattern of abuse against vulnerable boys. The offences involved direct sexual contact and assaults, exploiting the children's trust and naivety over nearly a decade in East Yorkshire.

  • Wade's obsession led to repeated targeting of young males.
  • She was convicted on all seven charges after trial.
  • The prevention order and registration aim to safeguard children.

Covered by Hull Live on 11 June 2022, the case revealed Wade's deliberate deception. Prosecutor Philip Standfast outlined the timeline and victim testimonies, emphasising the grooming tactics. One victim's account described confusion turning to distress, underscoring the long-term harm of female-perpetrated child sex offences. The sentencing reflects the court's commitment to protecting minors from such exploitation.
