Offence Summary

Prashant Ladva sexually assaulted a young woman by touching her inappropriately in the foyer of a Watford nightclub. He was convicted and sentenced to a two-year community order including unpaid work and rehabilitation activity, and placed on the Sex Offender Register for five years.

Full Description

On the evening of 14 August 2021, Prashant Ladva, a 37-year-old man from Stanmore, entered the Pryzm nightclub on Watford High Street, where he spent time dancing and drinking alone. The nightclub, which has since closed, was bustling with activity that night.

Later in the evening, CCTV footage captured Ladva loitering in the foyer near the cloakroom. The victim, a female in her late teens, was waiting alone for her friend to retrieve their belongings. Ladva approached her, attempting to engage her in conversation and complimenting her appearance. He then carried out the sexual assault by touching her inappropriately.

The victim managed to escape the situation and immediately informed her friends of the incident. They reported the matter to the police shortly afterwards, leading to an investigation by Hertfordshire Constabulary's Sexual Offences Investigation Team.

Ladva was convicted of sexual assault by touching at an earlier hearing in May 2025. On 7 July 2025, at St Albans Crown Court, Her Honour Judge Lana Wood sentenced him to a two-year community order. This included a requirement to complete 200 hours of unpaid work and 25 days of rehabilitation activity. Additionally, Ladva was ordered to pay a surcharge, costs, and compensation to the victim. His name was added to the Sex Offender Register for five years, requiring him to notify police of any changes in his circumstances. Breaching these terms constitutes a criminal offence.

Detective Constable Jon Holmes, from the Sexual Offences Investigation Team, commended the victim's bravery in coming forward despite significant delays in the justice system. He highlighted her dignity and maturity, noting that she hoped sharing her experience would encourage other survivors to report sexual assaults.
