Full Description

On 4 November 2025, Kevin Wyatt, a 41-year-old man with no fixed address, was sentenced to life imprisonment at Manchester Crown Court for a series of brutal crimes committed against a vulnerable woman in Clayton, Manchester. The attacks occurred in June 2025, during which Wyatt subjected the victim to two rapes in her own home, exploiting the trust she had placed in him by inviting him to perform odd jobs.

According to Greater Manchester Police (GMP), Wyatt's assault began while he was at the woman's residence for maintenance work. He then escalated the situation by raping her twice, robbing her of £120 by forcing her to withdraw the money from a cashpoint to pay for his taxi to Middleton, and falsely imprisoning her. Additionally, he threatened her with a bladed article during the ordeal. Wyatt pleaded guilty to charges of rape, robbery, false imprisonment, and threatening with a bladed article.

Following the incident, Wyatt was initially arrested on suspicion of attempted theft by a neighbouring police force, where he provided false details. Once his true identity was established in custody, GMP swiftly took him into custody. Detective Constable Lucy Holland of the City of Manchester CID described the crime as horrific, stating: “This was an horrific crime where Wyatt has abused the trust of a vulnerable woman who invited him into her home. Wyatt is a dangerous man who is rightly now serving a long prison sentence.”

The court imposed a life sentence, with Wyatt required to serve a minimum of 12 years and six months before being eligible for parole. This case underscores the vulnerability of individuals in their own homes and the robust response by GMP in investigating and prosecuting such offences, as evidenced by the official police statement released on their website.
