Full Description

In a significant case of child sexual exploitation, Huzaefa Alaboud, aged 23 from Throckley, was among three men convicted after a thorough investigation by Northumbria Police. The offences targeted two vulnerable girls aged 12 to 14, who reported the abuse in 2019, leading to a multi-year operation to bring the perpetrators to justice.

The investigation began in 2019 when the victims bravely came forward, prompting specialist officers to conduct detailed enquiries. Alaboud was arrested, charged with multiple sexual offences including rape and assault, and stood trial alongside co-accused at Newcastle Crown Court. Despite denying the charges, the jury delivered guilty verdicts on 9 October 2023 following a four-week trial.

  • Alaboud was found guilty of two counts of rape, one count of assault by penetration, and one count of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
  • His actions contributed to the severe trauma experienced by the young victims.

On 1 March 2024, Alaboud was sentenced to five and a half years' imprisonment at Newcastle Crown Court. Additional measures included a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order, a lifetime restraining order, and 10 years on the Sex Offenders’ Register. Detective Inspector Simon Drenon of Northumbria Police emphasised the deplorable nature of the crimes: “I hope this outcome will help give other victims of child sexual exploitation and abuse the confidence they need to step forward.” He also urged communities to report concerns to prevent further victims.

Claire Wright, Senior Crown Prosecutor with CPS North East’s RASSO Team, praised the collaborative effort: “Through their actions they have caused significant trauma to their victims, who continue to struggle with the effects of the numerous offences perpetrated against them. We have worked closely with our partners at Northumbria Police to secure the significant sentences passed.” This case demonstrates the police force's dedication to protecting children from sexual exploitation.
