Offence Summary

Caileon Ward was convicted of raping two women in Crieff between 2019 and 2023, involving violent acts including restraint and threats with a knife.

Full Description

Caileon Ward, a 26-year-old cocaine user from Perthshire, was sentenced to 14 years in prison at the High Court in Glasgow for a series of violent and sexual offences committed between 2019 and 2023 in Crieff. Ward targeted two women, subjecting them to harrowing ordeals, including repeated rapes and physical restraint.

The first victim was repeatedly preyed upon while asleep, with Ward raping her despite her explicit refusal of sex. As she pleaded with him, he callously stated, "At this point, I really do not f****** care." He restrained the traumatised woman and forced himself upon her, leaving her visibly upset, crying, and in great pain, according to prosecutor Greg Farrell. In another incident, Ward tormented her, brandished a knife, and ordered her to strip, prompting her eventual escape while wearing only a T-shirt and underwear.

The second victim endured a similar dehumanising ordeal. On New Year's Day 2023, while under the influence of drink and drugs, Ward drove her in a car and threatened to drive over a bridge with both inside. She attempted to escape but found the door locked. Later, he menacingly ran a knife up and down her legs. Ward pled guilty to six charges, including the repeated rape of both women.

Lord Scott imposed the 14-year custodial sentence and ordered four years of supervision upon release. Inspector Stephen Gray of Police Scotland welcomed the sentencing, stating, "Ward carried out these awful crimes over several years and he will now face the consequences of his actions in prison. My thoughts are with these women who showed immense strength in coming forward to report these crimes. I hope this sentencing will give them some comfort and help them move forward." The case was reported in The Courier on 18 November 2025.
