Full Description

Imran Raja Yasin, aged 45, from Halifax, was convicted of rape and jailed in the series of Calderdale cases where twenty men received 219 years for abusing four girls aged 12 to 16 between 2001 and 2010. His specific offence was against a vulnerable girl abused from 2002 to 2006 starting at age 13, part of the 2016 investigation.

The October 2022 trial at Bradford Crown Court resulted in his conviction. West Yorkshire Police released details post-restrictions on Wednesday.

Detective Chief Inspector Claire Smith said: “I welcome the sentences handed to these offenders for the abhorrent abuse.” Victim endurance was key.

The police focus: “Tackling child sexual exploitation and abuse is a top priority.” Similar to other UK cases like Rotherham.
