Offence Summary

Kaye Little, a paedophile, preyed upon and exploited the vulnerability of two male child victims by contacting them over the internet and engaging in sexual activity with them, while also possessing and distributing indecent images of children.

Full Description

Kaye Little, also known as Kia Little, has been sentenced to six years in prison for a series of child sexual offences committed between 2015 and 2019. Residing in Cleveland at the time, the 46-year-old targeted two male child victims in Leeds through online communications, exploiting their vulnerability to perpetrate sexual activity with them. Her actions came to light following reports of malicious communications, leading to an investigation by the Leeds Children Vulnerable to Exploitation Team.

Little first appeared on the radar of authorities in 2019 when she was identified as a suspect in malicious communication incidents. Subsequent enquiries by West Yorkshire Police officers uncovered evidence of sexual offences against the two boys, whom officers had identified during the probe. She was arrested in 2019 and formally charged in April 2022. After a trial in August 2023, a jury at Leeds Crown Court found her guilty of 13 offences, including sexual activity with a child, malicious communications, and the possession and distribution of indecent images of children.

During sentencing at Leeds Crown Court, the judge highlighted the danger Little posed, extending her six-year custodial sentence by an additional three years on licence. She also received a concurrent nine-month sentence for a separate offence against an adult male in Cleveland, investigated by another police force. Detective Constable Khi Smith of West Yorkshire Police commended the victims' bravery, stating: 'I want to thank the victims not only for their bravery in coming forward to report the offences, but also for their strength throughout the lengthy criminal justice process.' Smith further emphasised: 'Little preyed upon and exploited the vulnerability of these children and I hope this serves as a stark reminder that offending of this nature will not be tolerated.'

The case underscores the persistent online risks to vulnerable children, with Little's grooming and exploitation occurring entirely through digital means. West Yorkshire Police's thorough investigation, spanning from initial reports to conviction, demonstrates the effectiveness of specialised teams in tackling child sexual exploitation. The sentencing provides a measure of justice for the victims, allowing them to begin moving forward after enduring a challenging trial process.
