Full Description

A Southend man, Steven Field, was sentenced at Basildon Crown Court for a series of child sex offences after Essex Police raided his home following intelligence about illegal downloads.

Essex Police executed a search at Field's residence, uncovering more than 125,000 indecent images of children. Upon further analysis, officers discovered that hundreds of these images had been taken by Field himself, some years prior, all featuring the same child. The girl had never previously disclosed the abuse until the police investigation brought it to light.

The victim's mother expressed profound distress in court, stating she felt 'disgusted, betrayed and deeply disappointed', and was grappling with intense guilt over the situation. Field's sentence was reduced from nine years to seven years due to his autism diagnosis.

This case highlights the hidden nature of such offences, with the court hearing details of Field's personal involvement in producing the abusive material alongside his collection of downloaded images.
