Offence Summary

Les Williams, a convicted sex offender in a mobility scooter, sexually propositioned two teenage boys in playing fields, breaching his sexual harm prevention order.

Full Description

Les Williams, 58, was seated in the dark in playing fields with a bottle of lubricant when he sexually propositioned a 14-year-old boy who had asked if he needed help. The boy and his friend felt creeped out by the encounter and promptly called the police.

Williams, who uses a mobility scooter, turned out to be a previously convicted sex offender who had become intoxicated and reverted to his old patterns of behaviour. He admitted to breaching the terms of his sexual harm prevention order, imposed in 2017, and to sexual communication with a child.

At Exeter Crown Court in October 2025, Judge James Patrick sentenced Williams to 14 months in prison. This case illustrates the ongoing risks posed by individuals subject to prevention orders and the vigilance of young people in reporting suspicious behaviour, as covered by Devon Live.
