Full Description

A sexual assault occurred in Ellesmere Port, Cheshire, on Saturday, 21 March 2026, when a 30-year-old man inappropriately touched a 13-year-old girl over her clothing. The incident took place shortly before 6pm on South Pier Road, prompting an immediate response from Cheshire Constabulary officers who were called to the scene.

Sayed Hasib, of no fixed abode and originally from Afghanistan, was arrested minutes after the report was made. Following questioning, he was charged with one count of sexual assault. Hasib appeared at Chester Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 23 March 2026, where he pleaded guilty to the offence and was sentenced to 12 months in custody.

Chief Inspector Daniel Reynolds, of Ellesmere Port Local Policing Unit, commented on the swift action taken: “Hasib was quickly arrested minutes after the incident was reported, and in less than 48 hours has been charged and jailed for his actions. This highlights how seriously we take offences of this nature and we will take robust action.” He added that the rapid resolution should reassure the local community, which had been understandably concerned by the incident.
