Brookes appeared at Liverpool Crown Court on Friday, 19th December, following a week-long trial earlier that month where he was found guilty of the rape charge. The court sentenced him to four years and four months' imprisonment and issued a five-year restraining order against him.

Detective Constable Lauren Baker, who led the investigation, highlighted the strength of the evidence against Brookes in a statement released by Merseyside Police.
