Offence Summary

Nazir Khan was convicted of one count of rape against the schoolgirl and sentenced to 13 years' imprisonment.

Full Description

Nazir Khan, known as Khany, aged 24 from Buxton Street, Keighley, was convicted of raping a vulnerable schoolgirl as part of a 12-man gang's exploitation in Keighley from 2011 to 2012. He received 13 years' imprisonment for one count of rape against the 13-14-year-old victim.

The gang, led by fugitive Arif Choudhury, targeted the girl for repeated sexual abuse, including organised gang rapes on Dalton Lane. Khan's brother, Faisal Khan, was also convicted in the same group. The case was heard at Bradford Crown Court, where Judge Roger Thomas lambasted the men's dehumanising treatment of the victim.

West Yorkshire Police's investigation uncovered the 13-month period of abuse, with the trial concluding in December of the previous year. The judge noted the defendants' silence in interviews but their evident contempt through behaviour. Sentencing emphasised the severity of the child sexual exploitation.

'They showed her no shred of decency or humanity when as a vulnerable child she so needed care and understanding,' Judge Thomas stated.
