Full Description

Reece Clay, a predator who used dating apps to target young boys, was sentenced to 20 years in prison for a series of terrifying sexual offences, including rape and assault. His victims included a boy he met online, whom he raped, and another assaulted in a Leeds pub, demonstrating a calculated approach to exploitation.

Between offences, Clay posted a chilling social media message: 'Manchester bound. Lock up your twinks,' revealing his intent to seek out vulnerable young men. While under investigation by West Yorkshire Police for the initial crimes, Clay fled the UK to work in the Dominican Republic, evading capture until his arrest at a UK airport upon return. This flight added to the severity of his case.

The trial at a Yorkshire court detailed the profound impact on his victims, with evidence showing a pattern of grooming via apps. Clay was convicted of rape, sexual assault, and related charges. The judge imposed a 20-year custodial sentence, stating, 'Your actions were predatory and caused irreparable harm to your young victims.' West Yorkshire Police described the case as one of their most significant in tackling online-facilitated child sex offences, noting, 'Clay's arrest and conviction send a clear message to similar offenders: you will be pursued relentlessly.' The sentence includes extended licensing post-release to protect the public.
