Offence Summary

William Davies was convicted of raping and sexually assaulting a child, receiving a 12-year prison sentence at Mold Crown Court.

Full Description

A man from Wrexham has been imprisoned following his conviction for serious sexual offences against a child. William Davies, aged 32 and of no fixed abode, was found guilty of rape after a trial at Mold Crown Court in January 2026. He also admitted to assault by penetration of a child and sexual assault.

The sentencing took place on 10 March 2026 at Mold Crown Court, where Davies was jailed for a total of 12 years. In addition to the custodial sentence, he was subjected to a 15-year sexual harm prevention order and lifelong notification requirements as a sex offender. A 15-year restraining order was imposed to safeguard the victim from further contact.

Detective Constable Emily Brierly, the investigating officer from North Wales Police, commended the victim's courage in reporting the abuse. In a statement, she said: 'At the centre of this case is a young girl who has shown incredible courage in reporting Davies to police, which has resulted in his conviction today. I hope her bravery, and today’s result, will encourage others who have been subject to sexual abuse to come forward and be reassured their evidence will be heard, whilst serving as a reminder to any sexual offender that they will face the consequences of their actions - no matter how and when sexual abuse occurred.' She further emphasised that tackling violence against women and girls is a foremost priority for North Wales Police.

The case was handled by North Wales Police, with the trial and sentencing occurring at Mold Crown Court in Flintshire, Wales. The offences involved the rape and sexual assault of a child, highlighting the severity of the crimes committed by Davies.
