Christian Beard

Christian Beard, a 41-year-old man from Redditch, has pleaded guilty to sexual activity with a child, specifically involving a boy aged 14. The offence occurred between June 4 and June 7, 2014. Beard appeared at Worcester Crown Court on Monday, where he formally admitted the charge during his arraignment.

The court heard that the case was prosecuted by Steven Bailey, while Beard was represented by Abigail Nixon. Nixon requested an adjournment for a psychiatric report to provide fuller context on the circumstances surrounding the incident. Judge Jim Tindall agreed to adjourn the sentencing until September 13, allowing time for both the psychiatric report and a pre-sentence report from the probation service.

In addressing Beard directly, Judge Tindall emphasised the gravity of the offence, stating: 'I need you to understand that even count two (the count Beard admitted) by itself, because of the seriousness of what happened, one would ordinarily be looking at a prison sentence measured in years.' The judge further noted: 'It's important to get the full context about why what happened did happen.' He made it clear that an immediate custodial sentence was the likely outcome, adding: 'The starting point - and possibly the finishing point - will be an immediate custodial term. You need to prepare yourself for that.'

Another count related to the case will be allowed to lie on file, meaning it will not proceed to trial but remains on record. This admission marks a significant development in the proceedings against Beard, who resides in Donnington Close, Redditch.
