Full Description

Renato Daniel Nyari, aged 19 from Liverpool, was sentenced to seven years' imprisonment at Stafford Crown Court on 28 July 2022 for a series of child sexual offences. Arrested on 19 December 2018 as part of Staffordshire Police's investigation into the exploitation of three 13-year-old girls in Burton-upon-Trent from May to September 2018, Nyari's case was heard in two trials in June 2021 and February 2022.

He was convicted of three counts of raping a girl aged 13 to 15, sexual assault on a child, sexual activity with a child, and child abduction. These charges reflect the coercive and abusive nature of the crimes committed. Detective Sergeant Julie Pointon praised the victims: “We welcome these sentences and I would like to pay tribute to the girls’ incredible bravery in coming forward initially and throughout this long and complex investigation.”

Alongside six others, Nyari's sentencing contributed to a cumulative 51 years behind bars. Detective Constable Darren Mattocks affirmed: “We remained focused on seeking justice and providing support to the victims, who remained our first priority.” Staffordshire Police's announcement on 2 August 2022 details the operation that brought these perpetrators to justice, underscoring efforts to safeguard vulnerable youth.
