Full Description

Guy Sims, 53, made plans to travel across the country to Portsmouth to meet a 13-year-old girl he had been grooming online, posing as an 18-year-old boy while communicating with three girls. Upon arrival, police found cider and condoms in his possession and arrested him.

Sims was found guilty of three counts of arranging or facilitating the commission of a child sex offence. In October 2021, he was jailed for three and a half years. As a barrister at the time of arrest, he has since been barred from practice. The case involved the South East Regional Organised Crime Unit alongside Bedfordshire Police.

The professional fallout underscores accountability for public figures.
