Offence Summary

Clinton Easy advertised children online for sexual acts, leading to the safeguarding of three victims aged 13 to 17, and was jailed for controlling prostitution and possessing and distributing indecent images of children.

Full Description

Clinton Easy, a 31-year-old man from Catford, was involved in a serious child sexual exploitation case that came to light through proactive policing efforts. Easy was identified as a high-risk individual on the Metropolitan Police's V100 list, which uses data analytics to target men posing the greatest threat to women and girls. In November 2021, officers discovered evidence of Easy posting online advertisements offering young girls for sexual acts. Following his arrest, police seized his electronic devices and uncovered a series of explicit adverts he had created to arrange sex with the victims.

The investigation revealed that Easy's actions directly endangered three girls aged between 13 and 17, who were subsequently safeguarded by authorities. Easy's online activities were part of a broader scheme involving the distribution and possession of indecent images of children. The case highlighted the complexities of digital exploitation, with detectives reviewing thousands of text messages and tracing multiple SIM cards used by suspects to evade detection.

Easy appeared at Woolwich Crown Court on 21 June 2024, where he was sentenced to two years and six months in prison for controlling prostitution and possessing and distributing indecent images of children. In addition to his custodial sentence, he was issued a sexual harm prevention order and placed on the sex offenders register for seven years. Detective Sergeant Katy Lee, who led the investigation for the Metropolitan Police, stated: 'This investigation was complex with the team reviewing thousands of text messages and tracing different sim cards used by the suspects to try and avoid being caught. We are thorough in our work and will leave no stone unturned to build up evidence and help get these criminals behind bars and safeguard their victims from further harm.' The case underscores the Metropolitan Police's commitment to protecting vulnerable children in London.
