Full Description

A 29-year-old man from Telford, Dillon Robb, has been imprisoned for committing serious sex offences against a young girl. The case, which came to light following a report to West Mercia Police, highlights the ongoing efforts to protect vulnerable children from sexual exploitation in the community.

The offences occurred in Telford between August and September 2023. Robb was found guilty of four counts of engaging in penetrative sexual activity with a girl who was between 13 and 15 years old at the time. Additionally, he was convicted on two counts of engaging in sexual communications with a child. These actions demonstrate a pattern of predatory behaviour targeting a minor, exploiting her vulnerability for sexual gratification.

  • Penetrative sexual activity with a child aged 13-15 (four counts)
  • Sexual communications with a child (two counts)

Robb, who is currently housed at HMP Hewell, appeared at Shrewsbury Crown Court on 13 December 2024, where he received a sentence of six years and three months' imprisonment. In addition to the custodial term, the court imposed an indefinite sexual harm prevention order to restrict his future behaviour and protect the public. He has also been placed on the sex offenders register for life, ensuring ongoing monitoring by authorities.

Detective Sergeant Benjamin Poppleton from West Mercia Police commended the bravery of the victim in coming forward, stating, “I would like to recognise the bravery of the victim in coming forward and helping to secure this sentence. I hope today’s sentence brings some justice.” He further emphasised the police's commitment, adding, “We will continue to crackdown on predators like Robb, and ensure their offending is punished. I hope this case demonstrates to the community of Shropshire that West Mercia Police take reports of sexual offences seriously, and won’t hesitate to investigate thoroughly and robustly to bring offenders to justice.”

The sentencing underscores the severity with which the courts treat child sex offences, providing a measure of closure for the victim while serving as a deterrent to others.
