Offence Summary

A serial sex offender breached his Sexual Harm Prevention Order by possessing 355 illegal images of children and was jailed for two years and four months.

Full Description

Haydon Sheard, 27, from Sundridge Drive, Chatham, Kent, was sentenced at Maidstone Crown Court for possessing indecent images of children and breaching his Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO). Previously convicted in 2018 for possessing and distributing similar images, Sheard was under an SHPO requiring him to declare all internet-enabled devices to police for monitoring.

During an unannounced police visit in April 2025, Sheard acted suspiciously with a mobile phone, which was found to contain an indecent video of a child. Further searches uncovered an undeclared e-reader, memory card, and two bank cards, all in breach of his order. Forensic examination of his phone revealed 355 illegal images of children, including five in the most serious Category A.

Sheard pleaded guilty to three counts of possessing indecent images, five counts of breaching his SHPO, and one count of breaching sex offender notification requirements. Earlier in September 2025, he was jailed for two years and four months, with his SHPO extended by 10 years. The court emphasised his inability to comply with restrictions designed to protect children.
