Offence Summary

Jahmel Flemming subjected a woman to repeated physical assaults, sexual assault, and rape in Reading on December 13, 2024, showing no regard for her well-being. He was found guilty on multiple counts and sentenced to 13.5 years in prison at Reading Crown Court.

Full Description

On December 13, 2024, Jahmel Flemming, a 28-year-old man from Eldon Park in London, carried out a series of violent attacks against a woman in Reading. The assaults began in public, where Flemming pulled her hair and punched her repeatedly, resulting in a fractured cheekbone, severe swelling, and bruising to her face and body.

Following the initial physical violence, Flemming took the victim inside a property, where he continued his attacks by sexually assaulting and raping her while using further physical force. These acts demonstrated a complete disregard for the victim's safety and well-being, as described in court proceedings at Reading Crown Court.

Flemming was arrested on the same day as the offences and charged the following day. Additional charges were brought via postal requisition on January 28, 2025. During the trial, a jury found him guilty of three counts of actual bodily harm, two counts of rape, one count of sexual assault, one count of sexual assault by penetration, and one count of assault. He had pleaded guilty to one count of common assault but was acquitted of one count of intentional strangulation.

Sentencing occurred on September 30, 2025, when Flemming was imprisoned for 13 and a half years. Detective Constable Becky Edey of Thames Valley Police commented on the case, stating: 'Jahmel Flemming is a violent individual whose actions are inexcusable. His prolonged and vicious assault showed no regard for the victim, leaving her with significant injuries.' She further praised the victim's courage, noting that it led to justice and prevented further harm.

The case underscores Thames Valley Police's dedication to addressing violence against women and girls, including sexual violence. All details are sourced from the Reading Chronicle article reporting the conviction and sentencing.
