Offence Summary

Jack Bell sexually assaulted two lone women in Northallerton, leaving them with lasting psychological issues, and was sentenced to four years in prison after admitting the charges.

Full Description

Jack Bell, a 22-year-old man from Hartlepool, has been jailed for four years following his admission to two counts of sexual assault against lone women in Northallerton. The attacks, which occurred in the town, targeted vulnerable women walking alone and have left both victims with significant lasting psychological trauma.

In the first incident, the victim heard footsteps approaching from behind while she was walking. She moved aside to let the person pass, but Bell instead assaulted her sexually before fleeing the scene. The second attack followed a pattern of stalking; the victim had noticed Bell following her the previous day. The day after, he followed her again, and upon hearing footsteps, she attempted to escape down an alleyway. Bell caught up, attempted to engage her in conversation, and then sexually assaulted her as she tried to flee.

The cases were heard at Teesside Crown Court, where Judge Jonathan Carroll sentenced Bell, describing him as having an 'utterly distorted view of women' and a sense of 'sexual entitlement' over them. The judge branded Bell 'a significant risk of very serious harm to women', highlighting the severity of his actions and their impact on the victims.

According to the Hartlepool Mail article published on 9th October 2025, Bell resides on Balmoral Road in Hartlepool. The offences took place in Northallerton, located in North Yorkshire. Cleveland Police, responsible for the area, investigated the incidents leading to Bell's arrest and prosecution.
