Offence Summary

Anthony Goodridge, a convicted paedophile from Cambridge, sexually assaulted young girls, filmed children indecently, and engaged in voyeurism, leading to a 26-year jail sentence for multiple child sex offences.

Full Description

A convicted paedophile from Cambridge has been sentenced to 26 years in prison for a series of horrific child sex offences, as described by investigating detectives from Cambridgeshire Police.

Anthony Goodridge, 59, of Ramsden Square, Cambridge, admitted to sexually assaulting two young girls, filming another child to create an indecent image, and secretly recording a fourth victim while she was showering and getting changed. These acts constituted offences including sexual assault on a girl, making an indecent image of a child, taking an indecent image of a child, and voyeurism. The abuse came to full light during police interviews when Goodridge disclosed further details of his actions, revealing the extensive scale of his exploitation.

Goodridge was arrested a year prior to his sentencing and appeared at Peterborough Crown Court on 9 October 2024, where he was jailed. In addition to the custodial sentence, a judge imposed a restraining order prohibiting contact with his victims and a sexual harm prevention order to monitor his behaviour post-release. Det Con Molly Halksworth, from the force’s Child Abuse Investigation and Safeguarding Unit, described the abuse as 'nothing short of horrific', stating that Goodridge had abused his victims' trust 'in the worst possible way'. She noted that the full extent of the offences was uncovered during interviews, and expressed relief that justice had been served, hoping it provides closure for the victims and their families.

The case was reported by BBC News on 16 October 2024, highlighting the severity of child exploitation in the region. Cambridgeshire Police emphasised the importance of safeguarding measures in bringing such perpetrators to justice.
