Offence Summary

Kyle Jones was jailed for possessing and distributing over 3000 indecent images and videos of children and animals, including Category A material, after uploading such content online via a Kik messaging account.

Full Description

A 42-year-old man from Morriston, Swansea, has been imprisoned following his guilty plea to multiple serious sexual offences involving the possession and distribution of indecent images of children and extreme pornography featuring animals.

The investigation began in 2023 when Kyle Jones was linked to a Kik messaging account that uploaded Category A indecent videos of children to the internet. Despite initially denying the offences during his police interview, a thorough joint operation by the South Wales Police Online Investigation Team (POLIT) and Digital Forensics Unit uncovered compelling evidence on devices attributed to Jones. This evidence included over 3000 illegal images and videos depicting children and animals, with a significant portion classified as the most severe Category A material.

Jones, residing in Morriston, pleaded guilty to three counts of making an indecent photograph of a child, three counts of distributing an indecent photograph of a child, one count of possessing an extreme pornographic image of an animal, and one count of possessing a prohibited image of a child. He was sentenced to 28 months in prison at a hearing in 2026.

Detective Constable Thomas Connick of South Wales Police commented on the case, stating: “Kyle Jones possessed and distributed a significant number of indecent images of children and animals, and knew that what he was doing was unacceptable when he did so. Following a thorough investigation, Jones is now deservedly heading to prison. Jones’ actions were reprehensible and will have caused an immense amount of distress to his family and local community. They can hopefully feel assurance that Jones is now behind bars.” Connick further emphasised the broader impact, noting: “It is worth remembering that offences involving such illegal images are not victimless - individuals that access these images are creating and fuelling a demand that can only be met by the further abuse of vulnerable individuals. South Wales Police is committed to helping prevent this abhorrent abuse and will target all those that enable and encourage it.”

The case, reported by South Wales Police on 13 March 2026, underscores the force's dedication to combating online child sexual exploitation through specialised units like POLIT.
