Robert Mattravers, 47, from Runcorn, was sentenced to life imprisonment after admitting a string of horrific child sex offences. He pleaded guilty to four counts of rape of a child, two of sexual assault of a child, five charges of sexual activity with a child, engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child, causing a child to watch sexual activity, and making indecent images of children. Officers also found he had taken five indecent photographs of a child.

Appearing before the court, Mattravers was told he must serve a minimum of 11 years and eight months behind bars before being considered for parole. The judge described his crimes as “depraved” and highlighted the severe and lasting impact on his young victims. North Wales Police led the investigation, bringing the paedophile to justice after a thorough inquiry.
