Offence Summary

Rhyce Longstaff raped a 14-year-old girl who had passed out from drinking alcohol and smoking cannabis in an address in Aston.

Full Description

Rhyce Longstaff, a 31-year-old man from Hodge Hill, Birmingham, was convicted of raping a vulnerable 14-year-old girl. The incident occurred after Longstaff and a friend met a group of schoolgirls in the city centre and convinced them to go back to an address in Aston. The victim, who had been drinking alcohol and smoking cannabis, became unconscious in an upstairs bedroom where Longstaff attacked her.

The court heard that Longstaff took advantage of the girl's intoxicated and unconscious state to commit the assault. He was found guilty of three charges of rape following a trial at Birmingham Crown Court. The case was investigated by West Midlands Police, who gathered evidence including witness statements from the group of schoolgirls and forensic analysis from the scene.

During the sentencing in March 2026, the judge described the attack as a serious breach of trust and vulnerability, emphasising the long-term impact on the young victim. Longstaff showed no remorse, according to the prosecution. He was sentenced to 16 years' imprisonment with an extended six-year licence period to protect the public.
