Offence Summary

Edson Domingos was sentenced to 15 years in prison for two counts of rape after being arranged by Bruno Sala to assault one of the victims in Portsmouth between 2019 and 2021.

Full Description

Edson Domingos, a 41-year-old Angolan and British national, was sentenced to 15 years in prison, with an additional three years on licence, at Portsmouth Crown Court for two counts of rape committed against one of three women targeted in Southampton and Portsmouth. The offences formed part of a broader string of sex crimes orchestrated between 2019 and 2021, where Domingos was involved at the behest of his friend Bruno Sala.

Domingos, formerly living on Elm Grove in Southsea, raped a woman after Sala arranged the encounter without her consent. Sala later misled the victim by telling her that the act was not rape because he had given his friend permission. This incident was one of several despicable acts that highlighted the dangerous and controlling nature of the perpetrators.

Detective Constable Nick Sandford-Smith from the Operation Amberstone East team condemned the crimes, describing them as 'despicable' and praising the victims' resilience: 'The strength and resilience shown by all in both reporting to us, and in seeing this through the courts, is incredible.' The investigation revealed the coordinated abuse, with Domingos playing a direct role in the sexual exploitation facilitated by Sala.

The case was handled by Hampshire Constabulary, culminating in sentencing at Portsmouth Crown Court. Domingos's involvement underscored the network of abuse, contributing to the overall pattern of violence and non-consensual acts against the victims.
