Irene Torrie, a 42-year-old woman from Dundee, Scotland, has been identified as a serial sex offender following a series of indecent acts committed against a taxi driver. On 29 May 2020, Torrie entered a taxi and began making inappropriate sexual comments to the driver, inquiring about his marital status and whether he would cheat on his wife. She then climbed from the back seat to the front, ignoring the driver's protests, and groped his penis over his clothing with both hands. When he removed her hands, she proceeded to remove her shorts, exposing her vagina, and propositioned him by saying, 'I would like you to lick it.'
The shocked driver pulled over and demanded she cover herself, but Torrie continued her advances, forcing him to touch her breasts, thighs, and buttocks. She informed him that she had a condom and described herself as 'a good f***', offering to pay him if he entered her house for sex. The driver recorded part of the incident on his mobile phone, capturing Torrie shouting, 'I’ll pay you if you come inside. Are you f****** or not?' Eventually, he dropped her off at her ex-husband's home, where the ex-husband warned the driver to 'be careful of her' and urged him to take her away.
Torrie's criminal behaviour did not end there. On 1 June 2020, she shouted, swore, and made racist remarks to a couple in Balmuir Road, Dundee. Additionally, on 1 August 2020, she indecently communicated with a neighbour by asking to have sex with him and commenting on his penis size. At Dundee Sheriff Court, Prosecutor Lora Apostolova detailed the taxi incident, emphasising the driver's distress. Torrie admitted to all charges, including sexual assault by touching the driver's penis and exposing her vagina, as well as the other offences.
The court heard of Torrie's prior convictions, marking her as a serial sex offender. In a previous incident, after consuming Prosecco on a train, she rubbed her body against a train conductor who was attempting to calm her down, responding to his question about her destination with, 'You can take me anywhere.' She was removed from the train in Perth and arrested by British Transport Police. A year earlier, Torrie had performed a sex act in front of police officers who arrived to investigate a neighbour dispute, leading to her initial placement on the Sex Offenders Register.
Sheriff Paul Brown deferred Torrie's sentence and questioned whether she could join the Tay Project, a rehabilitation scheme typically for male sex offenders. Ultimately, she was placed back on the Sex Offenders Register. This case, reported by the Daily Star on 30 August 2022, highlights Torrie's pattern of sexual misconduct and the legal consequences she faces.
