Offence Summary

Rasseika Duncan was jailed for 11 years after raping a 15-year-old girl he lured to his home and forcing her to engage in sexual activity. He was convicted following a police investigation into the child sex offence committed in 2022.

Full Description

On 1 October 2022, Rasseika Duncan, a man of no fixed abode, approached a 15-year-old girl walking through Hyde town centre in Greater Manchester at around 8pm. After a brief conversation, he convinced her to accompany him to his address in the Stalybridge area. En route, Duncan purchased a quantity of cannabis, which he later used in the context of the assault.

Upon arriving at the address, Duncan locked the door of the room, preventing the girl from leaving. He then forced himself upon her, raping her and causing her to engage in sexual activity despite her attempts to resist and stop the assault. The incident was a clear case of sexual exploitation of a vulnerable child, highlighting the predatory nature of Duncan's actions.

A friend of the girl had previously observed her with Duncan and raised concerns, prompting the tracing of her phone. Officers from Greater Manchester Police's Tameside Child Sexual Exploitation team arrived at the address later that evening, arresting Duncan on the spot. A comprehensive investigation followed, leading to Duncan being charged with rape and causing a child to engage in sexual activity.

Duncan was found guilty in June 2025 at Manchester Crown Square Court. On 18 September 2025, he was sentenced to 11 years' imprisonment. In addition to the custodial sentence, the court imposed an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) and a restraining order to protect the public from further offences.

Detective Sergeant Michelle Davies from Greater Manchester Police's Tameside district commented on the case: 'Duncan exploited a vulnerable young girl and took advantage of her, in what was a terrifying situation. I would like to thank the victim in this case for the immense bravery and courage she has shown throughout both the investigation and the trial. I hope today’s sentencing can provide some comfort to her, as she continues to rebuild her life following this awful ordeal.' This case underscores the vital role of swift police action and victim support in addressing child sex offences, as reported by Greater Manchester Police.
