Full Description

Apedelrazek Badran, a 33-year-old man from Enfield, has been jailed for life following his conviction for serious sexual offences against young girls in the area. The case, prosecuted at Wood Green Crown Court, highlights the significant threat Badran posed to children, as described by investigating officers.

On 27 January 2016, at approximately 4:30pm, Badran approached a 12-year-old girl in Shirley Grove, Enfield. Posing as a police officer, he falsely claimed he was arresting her for an unspecified reason and attempted to lure her to a nearby parked van. When she resisted, he grabbed her by the wrists, but she managed to escape his grasp.

Just an hour later, Badran targeted another 12-year-old girl as she walked along Sandhurst Road on a bicycle. This time, he pretended to be a security guard, accusing her of matching the description of a shoplifter and insisting on searching her. During this encounter, he sexually assaulted her while threatening that he had a knife, committing assault by penetration on the child under 13.

Badran, residing on Hadrians Ride in Enfield, was found guilty on 10 August 2016 of sexual assault of a child under 13, assault by penetration of a child under 13, assault by beating, and common assault with intent to commit a sexual offence. He was sentenced on 27 September 2016 to life imprisonment, required to serve a minimum of eight years and four months before being eligible for parole. Additionally, the court imposed a Sexual Harm Prevention Order due to concerns over his potential to reoffend.

  • Investigating Officer Detective Constable Lee Ranson stated: "Badran is one of the most dangerous offenders I have ever prosecuted and he posed a significant threat to young children."
  • Detective Inspector Mark Rogers of the Met's Sexual Offences Exploitation and Child Abuse Command added: "Badran posed a serious threat to young girls and the streets are now safer with him behind bars. It is possible that he may have approached, and even attacked other children and I would urge them to come forward."

The Metropolitan Police, through its specialist Sexual Offences Exploitation and Child Abuse Command, emphasised their commitment to handling such allegations seriously. This case underscores the dangers of predatory behaviour targeting vulnerable children in public spaces.
