Offence Summary

Abiola Adenmosun, a paedophile from Chatham, sexually assaulted a young girl in Rochester after plying her with alcohol and drugs in 2012, continuing the abuse for several months. He was convicted and sentenced to four years and three months' imprisonment at Maidstone Crown Court.

Full Description

In 2012, Abiola Adenmosun, then aged 23, targeted a vulnerable young girl walking alone in Rochester. While driving through the area, he stopped his car to speak to the child, whom he did not know, and quickly befriended her. The following day, they met again, and Adenmosun provided the girl with alcohol and a cigarette laced with cannabis, her first experience with drugs, leaving her disoriented and vulnerable.

Exploiting her impaired state, Adenmosun sexually assaulted the girl in his car. Over the subsequent months, he continued to meet her and committed further sexual offences. During this period, he also damaged the victim's phone in an attempt to control her and assaulted one of her relatives. Despite the victim's efforts to end contact, Adenmosun persisted, relentlessly sending texts and making calls to harass her.

The abuse came to light in 2017 when the victim reported Adenmosun's actions to the police. Following an investigation by Kent Police, Adenmosun, residing on King George Road in Chatham, was interviewed and charged with six counts of sexual activity with a child. He pleaded not guilty at Maidstone Crown Court but was convicted on all counts on 28 February 2025.

On 18 July 2025, at Maidstone Crown Court, Adenmosun, now 35, was sentenced to four years and three months' imprisonment. In addition to the custodial sentence, he received an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order, was required to sign the Sex Offenders Register, and was subjected to a lifetime restraining order to protect the victim and prevent future harm.

Detective Constable Kayleigh Archer, the investigating officer from Kent Police, commented on the case: 'This man sought out a vulnerable girl who was walking by herself, gained her trust and then went on to commit multiple sexual offences. The victim had immense courage in initially reporting her ordeal. She then had the resilience to support our investigation over a long period of time and then give evidence at court. This has ensured this appalling man is now in prison and he cannot pose a risk to other young victims.' The conviction underscores the long-term impact of such offences and the importance of victim support in securing justice, as reported by KentOnline on 28 July 2025.
