Full Description

Jason Bailey, a 48-year-old man from Llanelli, was sentenced to six years in prison following his conviction for rape and sexual assault. The offences occurred on 28 August 2023 at a flat, where Bailey exploited a power imbalance to carry out the illegal acts against a female victim.

On 5 December 2023, Bailey was found guilty of the charges after a trial. He appeared at Cardiff Crown Court on 17 March 2026, where the sentence was handed down. The case was investigated by South Wales Police, with Detective Constable Ashley Colston commenting on the conviction: 'Jason Bailey was under no illusion that the acts he carried out were illegal, yet he did so anyway. Bailey exploited a power imbalance and thrived off it.' Colston also praised the victim's bravery in reporting the incident, which led to the successful prosecution.

The court proceedings highlighted the severity of the sexual offences, emphasising Bailey's deliberate actions despite knowing their unlawfulness. This case underscores the commitment of South Wales Police to supporting victims of sexual abuse through the judicial process, ensuring they are treated with dignity and respect.
