Offence Summary

Edson Domingos, an associate of convicted rapist Bruno Sala, was found guilty of two counts of rape against one woman as part of a scheme to abuse victims for sexual gratification.

Full Description

Edson Da-Cunha Domingos, 40, of Southsea, Portsmouth, was convicted alongside Bruno Sala in a case involving the rape and abuse of women. Domingos, an accomplice to Sala, participated in the exploitation of at least one victim, taking advantage of her vulnerability for his own sexual gratification. The offences formed part of a broader pattern orchestrated by Sala, who manipulated women into sexual encounters with other men, including Domingos.

The victim in question had been in a relationship with Sala, which turned abusive, leading to her being coerced into sexual activity with Domingos. Domingos claimed during the trial that he had no sexual contact with the woman, asserting they had only met once at a barbecue. However, this defence was disproven by prosecutors through robust evidence.

CPS Wessex prosecutors unravelled the lies presented by both men, using witness testimony, phone data, and injury evidence to prove their guilt. The trial concluded at Portsmouth Crown Court on 7 August 2025, with Domingos found guilty of two counts of rape against one woman. This conviction highlights his direct involvement in the sexual offences facilitated by Sala's control over the victims.

John Montague, Senior District Crown Prosecutor with CPS Wessex, commented on the case: "Sala took pleasure in knowing the extreme harm he was causing these women, and others, like Domingos, took advantage of their vulnerability for their own sexual gratification." The prosecution's success was attributed to the comprehensive evidence and the bravery of the victims in coming forward.

Domingos is due to be sentenced on 1 October 2025 at Portsmouth Crown Court, alongside Sala. The case, reported by CPS Wessex, serves as a stark reminder of the dangers posed by such predatory networks.
