Offence Summary

Jason Colbourne was convicted of sexually assaulting seven women through touching and sentenced to over three years in prison. An additional count of sexual assault was later added due to a judge's error, with a concurrent two-year sentence that did not extend his overall jail time.

Full Description

Jason Colbourne, a 55-year-old man from Stockbridge, Hampshire, faced justice at Winchester Crown Court for multiple sexual offences against women. Initially, he was found guilty of eight counts of sexual assault by touching, involving seven victims, and was jailed for more than three years last month prior to the latest hearing.

On Tuesday, 3 December, The Recorder of Winchester, Judge Angela Morris, addressed an oversight in the original sentencing. The judge explained that an additional count—count ten—of sexual assault by touching had been omitted due to an error on her part. This extra count warranted a two-year prison sentence, but it was ordered to run concurrently with the existing term, ensuring no increase in Colbourne's overall incarceration period.

Judge Morris stated during the hearing: 'There is a sentence of two years imprisonment, concurrent to [the other counts]. It was never my intention to increase the sentence. Everything was reflected in count one. Count ten is now in the sentencing remarks as well. That was an error on my part that just needed to be rectified.' Colbourne, residing on High Street in Stockbridge, was not present at the proceedings.

The case was heard at Winchester Crown Court in Hampshire, England, under the jurisdiction of the UK legal system. The offences underscore a pattern of non-consensual touching against multiple female victims, highlighting the seriousness of sexual assault crimes in the region. This rectification ensures the sentencing record accurately reflects all convictions without altering the punitive outcome.
