Jamie Dunford, a 34-year-old resident of Archer Road in Stevenage, Hertfordshire, was sentenced to seven years and six months imprisonment after being found guilty of two counts of sexual activity with a child at St Albans Crown Court on Friday.

The case, reported by The Comet and Hertfordshire Constabulary, highlighted Dunford's lack of remorse for his actions, which had a profound and lasting impact on the victim's family. The offences involved sexual activity with a child, leading to his conviction following a trial where the jury delivered a guilty verdict.

The victim's mother, who remains anonymous for legal reasons, provided a poignant statement on the devastating effects of Dunford's crimes. She expressed gratitude to the jury but emphasised the irreparable harm caused, stating: "Even though a guilty verdict has been given, and I thank the jury ever so much, there is no celebration because, no matter what, it can't cut the hurt that was caused to my little family." She further noted: "We are extremely grateful for the verdict, and I can't comprehend how life would be right now if it had gone the other way, but it would have been bad. He has destroyed years of our lives, and it will forever have an impact, and nothing will ever change that."

The mother's words underscored the emotional toll, adding: "My child should have never had to take the stand and, being her mother, I hope he rots because he has no remorse for what he's done." Hertfordshire Constabulary's involvement in the investigation and prosecution was crucial in bringing the case to court, ensuring justice was served in this serious child sex offence.
