Offence Summary

Muhammad Munir was jailed for 11 years after being found guilty of intentional strangulation, robbery, and sexual assault following a series of violent attacks on women in Milton Keynes and Northampton.

Full Description

On the evening of 18 January 2025, Muhammad Munir, aged 26 from Linden Road, Reading, and his accomplice Shahime Finch travelled from Reading to Milton Keynes, where they forced entry into an Air BnB accommodation occupied by two women in their thirties.

Munir dragged one of the victims into a bedroom by her hair and threatened her at knifepoint with a screwdriver revealed by Finch, while Finch searched the property. The women handed over £160 in cash, after which Munir and Finch fled the scene and proceeded to Northampton.

In Northampton, the pair forced their way into another Air BnB where two women in their twenties were staying. Munir strangled one victim who answered the door, dragged her down the stairs by her hair, and demanded money. Both victims were taken to a bedroom, stripped, and Munir sexually assaulted them using weapons while Finch searched the property.

The victims managed to escape, running out into the road wrapped in bedsheets to seek help. Munir and Finch stole approximately £1,500 in cash and two iPhones before fleeing. Following a Thames Valley Police investigation, Munir was arrested on 19 January 2025 and again on 12 February 2025, charged on 13 February 2025.

At Reading Crown Court, the trial concluded on 9 September 2025. Munir was found guilty by unanimous jury verdict of one count of intentional strangulation, three counts of robbery, and four counts of sexual assault, and acquitted of one further count of intentional strangulation. On 18 November 2025, he was sentenced to 11 years' imprisonment.

Detective Constable Samantha Le Jeune of Thames Valley Police described the case as 'extremely challenging and harrowing,' stating, 'The defendants inflicted enormous terror on their victims, and conducted absolutely abhorrent offences against all of them.' She emphasised the police's commitment to tackling violence against women and girls.
