Navin Joseph Luther, a student nurse working at Luton and Dunstable Hospital, began messaging what he believed was a minor, engaging in inappropriate communication. The recipient was actually a paedophile hunter who handed the evidence over to Bedfordshire Police. As a result, Luther received a police caution and was placed on the sex offenders register.

In April 2021, Luther was struck off by the Nursing and Midwifery Council, barring him from ever working as a nurse or midwife in the UK. Although he did not receive a custodial sentence, the professional consequences were severe, reflecting the zero-tolerance policy towards such behaviour in healthcare settings.
