Full Description

A 63-year-old man from New Brighton, Wirral, has been sentenced for downloading and possessing indecent images of children. Peter Bradford, residing at Tower Promenade, appeared at Liverpool Magistrates Court on 29 January 2026, where he pleaded guilty to two counts of making indecent photographs or pseudo-photographs of a child and one count of possessing such material.

The court was informed that the offences occurred between 19 January 2022 and 20 November 2024 at Bradford's home address. During this period, he downloaded one Category B image and 13 Category A images, with Category A representing the most severe classification of indecent images involving children. The case was handled under the jurisdiction of Merseyside Police, the prosecuting force for the Wirral area.

Upon sentencing, District Judge [Name not specified in article] imposed a six-month prison sentence, suspended for 18 months. Bradford was also required to complete 25 days of rehabilitation activities. Additionally, he will be subject to a sexual harm prevention order for seven years and must register as a sex offender during that time. He was ordered to pay £85 in court costs and a victim surcharge of £154.

This case highlights ongoing efforts by authorities in the UK to combat the possession and distribution of child sexual abuse material. Bradford's guilty pleas were entered prior to the hearing, as reported by the Wirral Globe.
