Christopher Ferguson

A former Police Scotland officer, Christopher Ferguson, has been imprisoned following his conviction for a series of abusive and violent offences that included sexual abuse. The sentencing took place at Hamilton Sheriff Court on Wednesday, 21 August 2024, where Ferguson, aged 31, received a custodial sentence of 3 years and 9 months. In addition to the imprisonment, he was issued a non-harassment order and placed on the sex offenders register for a period of 10 years.

The investigation into Ferguson's crimes began in 2021, prompted by reports from victims who had endured appalling abuse at his hands. Police Scotland officers conducted a thorough probe, taking proactive measures to identify and approach additional potential victims. This diligent work led to Ferguson's arrest and charging. As a serving officer at the time, he was immediately suspended from duty and has since resigned from the force.

Assistant Chief Constable Stuart Houston of Police Scotland commented on the case, stating: “My thoughts remain with those who survived the appalling abuse by Christopher Ferguson and I commend their strength in reporting these crimes and bringing him to justice.” Houston further emphasised the force's commitment to investigating such reports rigorously, regardless of the perpetrator's position, and reaffirmed that there is no place in policing for those who fail to uphold the required standards.
