Alan Kenneth Jerrim was convicted of multiple child sex offences, including indecent assaults and assault by penetration against two young girls, and sentenced to six years in prison.

Full Description

Alan Kenneth Jerrim, residing on Wykeham Road in Netley Abbey, was sentenced to a total of six years in prison at Winchester Crown Court on 2 September 2021, following his conviction for non-recent child sex offences committed between 1979 and 1983.

The offences occurred at an address on the Pylands Estate in Hamble, Hampshire. Jerrim was found guilty on 26 July 2021 of four counts of indecent assault against a girl under 13 and one count of assault by penetration against a girl under 13. These crimes were perpetrated against two children during that period.

The case was investigated by Hampshire Constabulary’s specialist Amberstone Unit, which handles non-recent sexual abuse allegations. Police Constable Nicole Houghton, from the unit, commented on the sentencing: “We hope that today’s sentencing has provided Jerrim’s victims some element of closure, knowing that he has been sentenced for the truly harrowing offences he committed against them. While the ordeals that the women suffered at the hands of Jerrim will undoubtedly remain with them, we again, would like to praise their courage in coming forward and reporting these incidents to our officers.”

PC Houghton further highlighted the investigation's success: “A thorough investigation by officers within our specialist Amberstone Unit has resulted in a serial sexual offender being brought to justice – and I would like to thank those officers who worked alongside the victims for their dedication to compile vital evidence and information, enabling us to secure a conviction.” The source for this information is the official Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary news release published on 3 September 2021.

In addition to the six-year custodial sentence, Jerrim received an extended licence period of 12 months upon release. This case underscores the commitment of Hampshire Constabulary to pursuing justice for historical child sexual abuse victims.
