Offence Summary

Caitlin Hutchinson, a manipulative sex offender, groomed a young boy over months with explicit messages, forcing him to perform sex acts on her, which came to light when he told his parents.

Full Description

Caitlin Hutchinson, 21, from Roker Avenue, Sunderland, was jailed for four years at court for multiple child sex offences after grooming a young boy over several months. She sent sexually explicit text messages and coerced him into carrying out sex acts on her, manipulating him into compliance. The abuse was uncovered when the boy bravely confided in his parents, leading to Hutchinson's arrest.

In police interviews, Hutchinson initially denied the offences, falsely claiming the boy had forced himself on her. However, evidence including messages proved her predatory role. She was charged with six counts, including engaging in sexual activity with a boy, in the presence of a child, sexual communication with a child, and causing or inciting a boy to engage in sexual activity.

Admitting the charges, Hutchinson was sentenced in February 2025, as reported by Chronicle Live. The court heard the grooming's manipulative nature, with prosecutors detailing the explicit content and power imbalance. Judge [Name not specified] described her as a 'manipulative sex offender', emphasising the harm to the victim who showed courage in disclosure.
