Offence Summary

Mohammed Kurdi, a 21-year-old British national from Henbury, Bristol, was charged with multiple counts of rape, child sexual exploitation, and drug supply in a case involving group exploitation of teenagers.

Full Description

Bristol Magistrates’ Court saw the appearance of Mohammed Kurdi among seven defendants charged with offences linked to group-based child sexual exploitation. Avon and Somerset Police's investigation addressed crimes against 11 girls aged 14 to 17 from 2022 to 2025.

Mohammed Kurdi, a 21-year-old British national from Henbury, Bristol, faced two counts of rape, two counts of arranging or facilitating the sexual exploitation of a child, one count of supplying ecstasy, and one count of supplying cannabis. Initiated in November 2023 due to exploitation concerns, arrests occurred in April 2024.

Kurdi appeared before District Judge Lynne Matthews on Wednesday following Tuesday's re-arrest. Without entering a plea, he was remanded in custody for 17 December at Bristol Crown Court. Detective Chief Inspector Tom Herbert noted: “We’ve ensured the most appropriate safeguarding measures and support has been made available to each victim to protect them from harm.”

James Bolton-Smith from the CPS Organised Child Sexual Abuse Unit described the charges as resulting from the Bristol probe, cautioning against information sharing that could prejudice proceedings. The force's awareness campaigns with hotels and taxi drivers support broader anti-exploitation efforts.
