Full Description

Kurtis Hardy, aged 37, was sentenced at Bolton Crown Court on 11 March 2024 for a series of sexual offences committed in Bolton during late 2023. The court heard that Hardy, who formerly resided in Westhoughton and now lives in Euxton, engaged in attempts to sexually communicate with a minor between 16 October 2023 and 28 November 2023.

According to court documents, Hardy's communications included sending images of his penis to the child and asking her to send photos of herself while describing his own actions, such as telling her he was touching himself. These actions formed the basis of the charge of attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child.

In addition to the communication offence, Hardy admitted to three counts of making indecent images of children. The images comprised eight Category A (the most serious), four Category B, and nine Category C images. He also pleaded guilty to possession of a prohibited image of a child, bringing the total charges to five, all of which he confessed to.

The case was heard at Bolton Crown Court, where Judge [name not specified in article] imposed a 12-month jail sentence, suspended for 18 months. Hardy was further subjected to a sexual harm prevention order for 10 years, ordered to complete 150 hours of unpaid work, 15 days of rehabilitation activity, and three months of electronic monitoring under an alcohol abstinence order. He was also required to pay £150 in court costs and a £187 victim surcharge.

Greater Manchester Police investigated the offences, which took place within their jurisdiction in the Bolton area. The court documents provided detailed evidence of Hardy's actions, highlighting the severity of the Category A images and the explicit nature of his attempted communications with the minor.
