Offence Summary

Parvaze Ahmed raped the victims on three occasions and was convicted of three counts of rape.

Full Description

Parvaze Ahmed, 36, from Farcliffe Road in Bradford, was part of a gang of nine men who targeted two 14-year-old girls living in a children's home starting in 2008. The group used alcohol, drugs, threats, and manipulation to groom and sexually exploit the teenagers, with Ahmed convicted of three counts of rape as part of the 22 total offences.

The trial at Bradford Crown Court, lasting more than six weeks, heard from prosecutor Karma Melly QC how the defendants, including Ahmed, created manipulated relationships and employed force to facilitate the abuse. The case was brought to authorities' attention in 2014 by victim Fiona Goddard, inspired by a BBC report on Rotherham's grooming scandals, leading to investigations by West Yorkshire Police.

Judge Jonathan Durham Hall QC sentenced Ahmed to 17 years in prison, emphasising the defendants' failure to uphold basic decency. Goddard, who waived her anonymity, read an impact statement in court: 'I can't change what's happened, but I can rebuild my life.' She spoke outside court about regaining control from her abusers.

Former Chief Crown Prosecutor Nazir Afzal commented on the systemic failures in protecting such victims, attributing them to resource shortages across police, prosecution, and community services. The case underscores ongoing challenges with child sexual exploitation in England and Wales.
