A social media predator, Christian Sollitt, aged 46, has been convicted of a series of serious child sexual offences following a 12-day trial at Grimsby Crown Court. The trial concluded on 10 October 2025, with Sollitt found guilty on six counts of sexual activity with a child, three counts of making indecent photographs of children, one count of sexual communication with a child, one count of meeting a child following sexual grooming, possession of extreme pornographic images, and possession of a prohibited image of a child.
The court heard that Sollitt's predatory behaviour came to light after a third-party report in July 2018 alerted authorities to his inappropriate communications and meetings with a young girl. Despite a child abduction notice being issued to him that month, Sollitt persisted in his attempts to groom the victim for his own sexual gratification. He sent thousands of emails, voice messages, and conducted video calls to manipulate the girl into sending explicit images. Furthermore, he arranged to collect her from school and transport her to secluded locations in Grimsby, where sexual activity occurred.
Investigators from Humberside Police conducted a search of Sollitt's address, seizing his tablet and other digital devices. Forensic analysis by the Digital Forensics Unit revealed the full extent of his depravity, including thousands of communications with the child and a cache of extreme pornographic images and videos depicting children as young as three years old. Sollitt denied knowledge of the victim's age initially but continued to contact her even after learning it, professing his love and feelings.
Detective Sergeant Sacha Harvey, who led the investigation, commented: “Sollitt was brought to officers’ attention following a third-party report in July 2018 of a young girl being approached by him, communicating and meeting for sexual intercourse frequently with him. [...] The young girl in this case was manipulated by Sollitt into sending explicit images and he arranged to pick her up from school and take her to secluded locations in Grimsby to engage in sexual activity.” The victim, now an adult, demonstrated remarkable bravery throughout the judicial process, stating that the outcome has helped her “break free” from the impact of the case on her life.
Sollitt has been remanded in custody pending his sentencing, scheduled for 12 December 2025 at Grimsby Crown Court. This case underscores the dangers of online grooming and the commitment of Humberside Police to pursue such offenders relentlessly.
