Offence Summary

Khalid Raja Mahmood pleaded guilty to two counts of rape and three counts of sexual activity with the child, receiving an extended 17-year sentence as a dangerous offender.

Full Description

Khalid Raja Mahmood, aged 34 from Gordon Street, Keighley, was the 12th man in the Keighley gang case, pleading guilty to twice raping the schoolgirl at Cliffe Castle Park and flats, plus three counts of sexual activity with a child during 2011-2012. Classified as 'dangerous', he received extended concurrent sentences of 17 years, including 13-and-a-half years in custody and three-and-a-half years on licence, with four-and-a-half years concurrent for the sexual activity charges.

Mahmood, already imprisoned for another rape, groomed the victim with drink and drugs after meeting her through another girl. The victim called him 'Creepy Khalid' and told police 'Khalid raped me. It happened loads'. Judge Roger Thomas at Bradford Crown Court imposed the extended sentence following the trial.

West Yorkshire Police's investigation linked his actions to the gang's exploitation led by Arif Choudhury. Sentencing came after the December trial, contributing to the total 143 years and six months.

'Mahmood... was regarded as 'dangerous' under law and would therefore receive an extended sentence,' the judge ruled.
