Stuart Devey

Stuart Devey, a 53-year-old man from Walsall, has pleaded guilty to four counts of attempted sexual communications with a child at Swansea Crown Court. The offences occurred between August 18 and 21, 2023, when Devey, believing he was engaging with underage girls under the age of 16, attempted to initiate sexual conversations online from an address on Laws Street in Pembroke Dock, Wales.

The case came to light through an investigation by Dyfed-Powys Police, who charged Devey following the discovery of his interactions with four separate online accounts posing as young girls. According to court proceedings reported by the Western Telegraph, Devey had no previous convictions, as stated by his defence representative, Alex Scott. Judge Catherine Richards adjourned the matter for the preparation of a pre-sentence report, granting Devey bail in the interim.

Devey, residing on Gower Street in Walsall, West Midlands, must now register as a sex offender upon his return to court for sentencing on October 20, 2024. The guilty pleas mark a significant admission of the attempted exploitation, highlighting the dangers of online grooming attempts targeting minors. This incident underscores ongoing efforts by UK authorities to combat child sexual exploitation through digital platforms.
