Offence Summary

Adam Khan interacted online to arrange the sexual abuse of a child and was found in possession of nearly 1,000 indecent images of children, leading to his arrest and conviction.

Full Description

Adam Khan, a 30-year-old man from Great Barr in the West Midlands, engaged in online interactions with the intent to locate and sexually abuse a child. Between June and July 2025, he sought out individuals online who could facilitate access to a child under the age of 13 for the purpose of carrying out sex attacks.

Officers from the West Midlands Police Force Priorities Team monitored Khan's activities and discovered his plans. They established that he was arranging to meet someone believed to be able to provide such access. In July 2025, the police intercepted this meeting in Great Barr, leading to Khan's immediate arrest. Upon seizing his digital devices, investigators uncovered almost 1,000 indecent images and videos of children, along with evidence that Khan had distributed such images.

Khan pleaded guilty to the charges of arranging or facilitating the rape of a child under the age of 13 and the distribution of indecent images. On 18 March 2026, at Birmingham Crown Court, he was sentenced to nine years and six months in prison. The case was handled by West Midlands Police, who highlighted the severity of Khan's intentions in preventing further harm.

Detective Sergeant Nick McCullogh from the Force Priorities Team stated: 'Khan was intent on meeting a child who he could sexually abuse. We were able to stop his disgusting plan, and uncover the full extent of his offending, to ensure he has been sent to jail for many years.' This intervention by the police not only thwarted Khan's immediate plans but also exposed the broader scope of his criminal activities involving child sexual exploitation material.
